Tens of school pupils involved in Volleyball festival organised in Baku
Baku, Azerbaijan, May 17, 2017. The “Volleyball at School” project launched earlier this year is running at full speed in Azerbaijan. A Volleyball festival took place on May 3-4 in Baku – with the event open to children under 10 years of age and organised at the sports centre of the School no. 15 in the Azerbaijan capital city.
The Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the City of Baku, as well as the Education Department of the Azerbaijan capital all supported the organisation and delivery of the festival – which included Volleyball, Beach Volleyball and Mini Volleyball competitions, together with an exhibition of paintings relating to Volleyball.
As many as seven teams – Azerrail, Lokomotiv, Khatai 1, Khatai 2, Surakhani 1, Surakhani 2 and RGIM – took part in the Volleyball competition. Azerrail finished in first place with Khatai 1 and Surakhani settling for second and third, respectively.
A Mini Volleyball tournament took place as well with the students from School no. 269 taking the top honours. Dunta Valiyeva/Fidan Ahmadkhanova from Khatai emerged victorious from the Beach Volleyball competition, with Maryam Mammadova/Ilaha Mammadova of Lokomotiv finishing second and Fidan Aghamadova/Saniya Aslanova of Khatai 2 winning bronze.
Once the sporting competitions finished, it was time for a party joined by all involved with the young players showing their ability at dancing or reciting poems. The winners as well as all other participants received special gifts, diplomas and souvenirs to take back home as a memory from this experience and unforgettable day.
